Sorensen Systems Engineers Have
Become Bloggers for Customers

Northborough MA (03-01-2017) - The design engineers and sales engineers at Sorensen Systems have turned to blogging as a means of increasing the distribution of information helpful to its customers.
(view our latest blog entry here)

In one blog entry, VP of Engineering, Mike Gardella, discussed energy policy and its relation to the cost of electricity. He commented on recent government information that discussed the importance of electricity to the economic and environmental future of the country. As a design/build company working on traditional and renewable energy projects throughout the country, and around the world, Sorensen System's engineers are very alert to the importance of power generation and how it affects our lives.

In another blog entry, Project Manager, Rick Ricci, wrote about the trend toward Micro Hydro and impact on power generation options for customers. He commented that more opportunities were arising for government, industry and even individual homeowners to enter the world of so-called Micro Hydro energy generation. In discussing a recent project that Sorensen Systems had designed, built and installed for the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority, he described how the innovative design took advantage of potential energy that already existed, but was not being tapped.

The generating plant that Sorensen Systems installed at a Massachusetts water storage facility was able to replace a series of reducing valves with a system that could proactively spin a turbine and thus create electricity as a by-product of its energy. The plant will generate 1.2 million kWh per year, which will power the storage facility and create enough excess electricity that it can be sold back to the public utility.

Through blogging, the Sorensen Systems engineers can comment on projects, make observations about the technologies used and perhaps educate readers to new opportunities for power generation.
